Scared of getting your first tattoo? Top 3 myths to not be afraid of
Posted by admin on Mar 14, 2011 in Tattoo Designs • No commentsHas that lingering desire to get a tattoo ever waned from your rebellious teenage years? Are you a mature adult now, but still long to have something penned permanently on your skin? Perhaps it’s the negative effects you’ve heard about that have you shy to pull the trigger. If so, take a look at some common myths about getting a tattoo. Knowing the truth may be the freedom you’ve been longing for to take the plunge.
Tattoos bleed a lot
In the majority of cases the outline shouldn’t bleed at all and shading shouldn’t bleed for more than 5 or 10 minutes. When you leave the tattoo shop, the tattoo will be bandaged but has usually stopped bleeding. Most will also suggest to keep the tattoo moist so it does not scab over. The scab will cause the color to be drawn away and the vividness will not last as long.
Tattoos hurt and cause long-term medical problems
While there is some level of discomfort involved, many people find tattoos to be less painful than they expected. An experienced, professional tattoo artist will know various techniques to make the pain as bearable as possible. Some people use a numbing cream, you would need to ask your artist before using the cream to find out what they recommend. Also, if you get a tattoo on an area that you usually shave, you may need to wait several days before using shaving cream for men in that area as the ingredients may cause irritation and the site will be slightly sensitive.
There is also no evidence that shows tattoos cause long-term medical problems. Of course, this is assuming you are using a tattoo clinic that only employs skilled and licensed individuals. If not, you are susceptible to germs and diseases. It is also good to note that you are not eligible to donate blood for a year after the tattoo was inked.
Tattoos are expensive
Not in the long run, in all cases a tattoo is a permanent addition to your body. It is paid for at one time. There’s no financing or interest involved. It can’t be broken or stolen. Tattoo cost should not weigh heavily. If you arrive and ask for the least expensive tattoo they have, you may want to consider whether you are getting the tattoo for the right reasons. Get what you really want, even if you have to save up for it over time.
